The Third Operation Steering Committee Meeting of the “Technical Assistance for Promoting Youth Employment in TRC3 Region” Project, which is co-financed by the Republic of Turkey and the European Union and implemented by Tigris Development Agency, where the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services, Directorate of European Union and Financial Assistance acts as the contracting authority, was held. Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security Prof. Dr. Lütfihak Alpkan, Siirt Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu, Siirt University Rector Prof. Dr. Nihat Şindak, Director of European Union and Financial Assistance Department Süreyya Erkan and Secretary-General of Tigris Development Agency Ahmet Alanlı attended the online meeting and made opening speeches.

Secretary-General of Tigris Development Agency (IİKA) Ahmet Alanlı opened the Third Operation Steering Committee Meeting and gave information about the activities realized within the scope of the project, the completed training programs and the activities that were planned to be carried out in the future.

In her speech, the Director of European Union and Financial Assistance Department Süreyya Erkan stated that she was happy that the targeted results have already been achieved to a large extent and that all parties were working in cooperation despite the Covid-19 and pandemic conditions. She also pointed out that as the Contracting Authority, they will continue to support projects in the fields of education, employment and social policy in the future. Siirt University Rector Prof. Dr. Nihat Şindak expressed his satisfaction with the contribution of the project to the TRC3 Region and stated that Siirt University is happy to be a part of this social project.

Expressing his views at the Third Operation Steering Committee Meeting, Siirt Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu said, “Despite the pandemic conditions, the increase in labour force participation rates and private sector investments in the region compared to the previous year is a very important issue. We see today that there will be good developments in terms of production and employment in order to prevent youth unemployment in the coming days; in this sense, we find the Technical Assistance Project for Promoting Youth Employment in TRC3 Region very meaningful and important.”

Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security Prof. Dr. Lütfihak Alpkan, on the other hand, underlined the importance of the whole region’s ownership and local coordination of the Project, which aims to increase employability by providing vocational and personal skills to the youth in the region, and underlined the importance of continuing the cooperation and ensuring the sustainability of the results after the project is completed.

The Third Operation Steering Committee Meeting of the Project “Technical Assistance for Promoting Youth Employment in TRC3 Region” ended after the presentation of the Project Team Leader, Cleofe Guardigli.
