Within the scope of the ‘Technical Assistance for the Promotion of Youth Employment in the TRC3 Region’ Project, which is co-financed by the Republic of Turkey and the European Union and implemented by Tigris Development Agency, where the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services, Directorate of European Union and Financial Assistance acts as the contracting authority, the Local Development, Social Inclusion and Youth Employment Conference was held. Organized within the scope of the Project, which aims to promote youth employment in the provinces of Mardin, Şırnak, Siirt and Batman, the Conference hosted many distinguished speakers through online participation. The moderator of the event was the famous actor Mert Fırat and the event was broadcast live on YouTube and the Zoom platform.
The General Secretary of DIKA, which hosted the event, Mr. Ahmet Alanlı stated in his opening speech, “We continue our activities in the ‘Project for the Promotion of Youth Employment in the TRC3 Region’, which we started to implement 1 year ago. In close collaboration with our stakeholders, Provincial Directorates of National Education, İŞKUR, universities, employers’ associations, non-governmental organisations and social partners, we were able to implement most of the activities described in our work plan, and we are very proud in this regard”.
After the opening speeches of Head of Economic and Social Development of the EU Delegation to Turkey Angel Gutierrez Hidalgo, and Ministry of Industry and Trade Development Agencies General Manager Barış Yeniçeri, information on the activities implemented was shared by the Project Team Leader Cleofe Guardigli.
The presentation titled ‘The Relationship between Lifelong Learning and Social Inclusion’ by Yusuf Taner Tekin from the Directorate General for Lifelong Learning of the Ministry of Education and the speech titled ‘Social Dialogue for Decent Jobs for Youth, National Employment Plans and Local Coordination’ by Nuran Torun Atış from the International Labour Organization (ILO) took place in the first part of the conference. Then, Technology Communicator and Trainer Dr. Sertaç Doğanay made an interview with Mert Fırat on Lifelong Learning for Future Preparation.
In the second part of the Local Development, Social Inclusion and Youth Employment Conference, İbrahim Demircan, Head of the Department of Employment Policies in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, shared the Policies in the Field of Youth Employment with the audience. Then, with a success story that inspired all young people, Chef and Entrepreneur Ebru Baybara Demir from Mardin connected to the conference online and talked about her journey that started in Mardin and her successful entrepreneurship experience.
While Microsoft Turkey CTO Onur Koç shared his views on data-driven entrepreneurship, Nilüfer Baş from Tigris Development Agency made a presentation on Youth Employment within the Framework of the Regional Development Plan.
With the Local Development, Social Inclusion and Youth Employment Conference, where different topics such as new technical education trends for young people, opportunities for entrepreneurs, best practices in local employment plan models, cooperation between stakeholders and policy recommendations on the basis of regional development plan were discussed from different perspectives, many valuable speakers and participants had an opportunity to participate through the Zoom application and YouTube.
