The Second Operation Steering Committee Meeting of the ‘Technical Assistance for the Promotion of Youth Employment in the TRC3 Region’ Project, which is co-financed by the Republic of Turkey and the European Union and implemented by Tigris Development Agency, where the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services, Directorate of European Union and Financial Assistance acts as the contracting authority was held. Şırnak Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan, Şırnak University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erkan, Siirt University Rector Prof. Dr. Nihat Şındak, European Union Delegation to Turkey Sector Manager Ahmet Karan and Tigris Development Agency General Secretary Ahmet Alanlı attended the meeting and delivered their opening speeches.

General Secretary of Tigris Development Agency (DIKA) Ahmet Alanlı opened the Second Operation Steering Committee Meeting and conveyed the training programs and activities completed within the scope of the project and gave information on the activities planned to be carried out in the future.

European Union Delegation to Turkey Sector Manager Ahmet Karan drew attention to youth unemployment and the problem of migration from the region, and underlined that they aim to increase employability by providing vocational and personal skills to the youth in the region with the project. He stated that the first year of the project was completed successfully thanks to the Tigris Development Agency and the whole region’s ownership of the project, despite the Covid-19 pandemic that affected the whole country, and that the activities would continue more intensely in the next 2 years.

Şırnak University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erkan, who hosted the meeting, thanked all participants and all stakeholders who contributed to the project, while Siirt University Rector Prof. Dr. Nihat Şındak underlined the necessity of supporting the TRC3 region in terms of youth employment and pointed out, “We will achieve good results with the Technical Assistance for the Promotion of Youth Employment in the TRC3 Region Project as a result of the collaboration between all organisations”.

Şırnak Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan, who expressed his views on the Project at the meeting, said, “As all stakeholders within the scope of the project, we will all contribute our part and we will continue our efforts to promote our youth and youth employment in our region”.
